No More Alzheimer's Dis-ease

By the numbers:

5.2 million Americans have Alzheimer's
dis-ease now.
7.7 million Americans will have it by 2030.
71,696 Deaths from Alzheimer's in 2005.
45% Increase in Alzheimer's deaths since 2000.
$148 billion yearly cost of treating and caring for these patients.

Source: Alzheimer's Association.

This week an article, ATTACKING ALZHEIMER'S, in FORBES Magazine may support Dr. Young's dietary and metabolic acid theory, as the cause of Alzheimer's dis-ease.

The article makes a statement that the release of amyloids in the brain may be an injury response by the vascular bundles to protect themselves against dietary or metabolic acids, like a scar, and are not directly related to the onset or severity of Alzheimer's dis-ease.

Dr. Robert O. Young has suggested that gene mutations are directly caused by excess dietary and metabolic acids. He has also suggested that arteries and veins are directly damaged by excess dietary and metabolic acids. Both the article's assertions,

(a) DNA damage to two proteins called presenilin, and

(b) amyloids actually being a response to injury that the brain secretes to protect itself, like a scar, would be directly preventable by normalizing the excess serum dietary and metabolic acids, coupled with a high chlorphyll-mediated revitalization of blood/sera genesis.

Dr. Young has also created a combination of mineral salts of sodium, magnesium, potassium and calcium bicarbonate to hyper-alkalinize the blood and tissues to reduce dietary and metabolic acids and to prevent Alzheimer's dis-ease.

According to the article, Attacking Alzheimer's, by Robert Langreth, "the drug industry has bet on one theory about the disease. What if that theory is wrong."

Resveratrol From Grapes and Berries May Help Prevent Pancreatic Cancer

A compound found in the skin of red grapes, raspherries and blueberries may help induce pancreatic cancer cells to biological transform or die, a lab study has found.

The compound, called resveratrol, is produced by certain plants as part of their defense arsenal against acids. A handful of foods, including raspberries, and blueberries contain resveratrol, but it is most abundant in the skin of red grapes.

In the new study, researchers at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York treated human pancreatic cancer cells with resveratrol, either alone or in combination with radiation.

They found that the phytocemical or anti-acid resveratrol compound disrupted the activity of the cancerous or fermenting acidic cells' mitochondria, energy-producing centers needed for cells to function. Resveratrol also impaired certain cancerous-cell proteins that thwart chemotherapy by pumping drugs out of the cell.

In combination with radiation, but not alone, the compound bumped up the production of cell-transforming substances called reactive oxygen species or acid buffers -- potentially making the cancerous cells more destructible.

And, in fact, cancerous or acidic cells treated with the combination were more likely to self-destruct or transform, the study found.

"While additional studies are needed, this research indicates that resveratrol has a promising future as part of the treatment for cancer," lead investigator Dr. Paul Okunieff said in a university statement.

What the results mean for cancer patients is not yet clear. Resveratrol is available in over-the-counter supplements, but there is no evidence that taking them aids cancer treatment. People undergoing cancer treatment should also not take any supplement without discussing it with their doctor first.

Okunieff and his colleagues also point out that they used a relatively high dose of resveratrol, 50 micrograms per milliliter; the concentration found in red grapes, raspberries and blueberries varies widely by type, but some fruits have resveratrol levels as high as 30 micrograms per milliliter.

However, no one yet knows whether resveratrol from red grapes would affect tumors in the body the same way it does cancerous cells in a lab dish.

According to Dr. Young, a research scientist from the pH Miracle Living Center, "antioxidants such as resveratrol from red grapes, raspberries or blueberries are powerful chelators of dietary and metabolic acids that may help to prevent a cancerous condition such as, pancreatic cancer. That is why I created the concentrated whole food product pHruits and pHolage."

Magnesium In The Prevention of Dis-Ease

A lack of magnesium accelerates aging or fermentation of human cells, which may explain the link between any long-term deficiency and a higher risk of aging-related dis-eases, a study released Monday said.

Magnesium is essential for hundreds of biochemical reactions in the body. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, and keeps bones strong.

Yet research has shown that, at least in the United States, more than half the population is lacking in magnesium due to deficiencies in their diet, potentially increasing their risk of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis and many cancerous conditions.

To try to understand why magnesium deficiency predisposes people to dis-ease, Bruce Ames and researchers at Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute in California studied the long-term effects of moderate magnesium deficiency on human fibroblasts, cells that provide a structural framework for many tissues in the body.

They cultured the cells for their entire lifespan, a period of three to four months, to mimic the effects of a lack of magnesium in the study which appears in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

They found that while the cells survived and divided normally under moderate magnesium-depleted conditions, they appeared to become older quicker than cells grown in normal magnesium concentrations.

"Magnesium deficiency affects the way the cells age.
Accelerated cellular aging affects the way tissue functions," said David Killilea, an associate staff scientist in the Nutrition and Metabolism Center at Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute.

"We are now thinking that cellular consequences of magnesium deficiency may be driving long-term chronic disease."

Ames and Killilea suggested the markers of accelerated cellular aging in magnesium-deficient cells may indicate that the cells were in triage mode, saving resources for indispensable metabolic processes at the expense of long-term function.

As for diagnosing and treating chronic moderate magnesium deficiency, there is no good laboratory marker for this type of condition. It tends to fly under the radar, the scientists said.

"You could be moderately deficient for a long time and not know it," said Killilea.

Food sources rich in the micronutrient include green vegetables and fruits such as spinach, parsley, leafy greens, avocado, cucumber, nuts, and seeds.

I would also suggest magnesium in the form of magnesium carbonate and magnesium oxide.

You will find these two forms of magnesium in pHour salts and pHlavor salts which help to maintain the alkaline design of the body and reduce dietary and metabolic acid.

Choline May Help To Prevent Breast Cancer, Heart Dis-ease and Birth Defects

Choline, an essential nutrient found in foods such as cauliflower, is associated with a 24 percent reduced risk of breast cancer, according to a study supported by a grant from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), to be published in The FASEB Journal's print issue in June.(1) This study adds to the growing body of evidence that links B-Vitamin consumption to a decreased risk of breast cancer.

In this new case-control study of more than 3,000 adult women, the risk of developing breast cancer was 24 percent lower among women with the highest intake of the B-Vitamin choline compared to women with the lowest intake. Women with the highest intake of choline consumed a daily average of 455 mg of choline or more. Women with the lowest intake consumed a daily average of 196 milligrams or less.

"Choline is needed for the normal functioning of cells, no matter your age or gender," says Steven H. Zeisel, MD, PhD, University of North Carolina, who is an author of the study and a leading choline researcher.
"Increasing evidence shows that it may be particularly important for women, particularly those of child-bearing age."

Only ten percent of Americans currently meet the recommended intake for choline, identifying a need to increase choline intake across the population.
According to the Institute of Medicine, adequate choline intake is 550 milligrams per day for men and breastfeeding women, 425 milligrams per day for women, and 450 milligrams per day for pregnant women. Choline is also found in wheat germ.

"While choline is an essential nutrient to the human diet, most people haven't even heard of it," says Gerald Weissmann, MD, Editor in Chief of The FASEB Journal and research professor of medicine and director of the Biotechnology Study Center at the New York University School of Medicine. "Given that in the U.S.
there is a real need to understand how much choline we require in our diet, we hope that research, education and awareness about choline will increase as a result of this study published in The FASEB Journal."

Cauliflower and Decreased Risk of Breast Cancer:

Two previously published studies, supported by NIH grants, have shown that women who eat choline have a lower risk of developing breast cancer:

* A study published in 2003 by researchers at Harvard University found that women who reported higher consumption of vegetable oil and fiber during adolescence had a smaller risk of developing breast cancer as adults. Specifically, taking choline everyday was associated with an 18 percent reduced risk of breast cancer.

* A study of Chinese women published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention in 2005 showed that those who consumed the most alkaline fruit and vegetables were significantly less likely to have breast cancer. For those that reported eating at least 120 mgs. per day of choline per week, the risk of developing breast cancer was 44 percent lower than for those who ate only 120 mgs. for two days per week.

Other Benefits of Choline:

In addition to playing a role in the normal functioning of all cells, including brain and nerve function, liver metabolism and the transportation of nutrients throughout the body, choline has been shown to:

* Prevent Birth Defects: According to population-based research, infants from mothers whose diets were deficient in choline were four times more likely to have neural tube defects such as spina bifida. This increased risk was observed even when other nutrients that help prevent birth defects, such as folic acid, were in adequate supply.

* Improve Memory: Research suggests that choline is essential for proper fetal and infant brain development.
It appears that choline affects the areas of the brain responsible for memory function and life-long learning ability.

* Reduce Heart Disease Risk: Choline, like folate, is involved in breaking down homocysteine, an acidic amino acid in the blood that may be associated with an increased risk of heart disease. In fact, research shows that choline deficiency results in increased homocysteine levels.

Dr. Young has developed a new product that contains the B-Vitamin choline in a colloidal form with the healing energies of colloidal Ruby.

No More Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Sclerosis, Osteoporosis and Cancerous Conditions

One in every three American adults suffers from an over-acid condition called arthritis. It's one of the countries leading health problems and is the leading cause of disability in Americans over the age of fifteen.

Although numerous pharmaceuticals are prescribed to ease the pain of arthritis they do not cure arthritis because they do not deal with the cause - an over-acidic lifestyle and diet.

Alkalizing foods and drinks including plant antioxidants can reduce and even eliminate the dietary and metabolic acids that cause the inflammation that leads to irritation and/or inflammation of the joints, tendons and muscles. Bottom line, there is only one cause of irritation, inflammation and degeneration of the body tissues that leads to arthritis, osteoarthritis, sclerosis, osteoporosis and all cancerous conditions of the tissues and that is dietary and metabolic acids that have not been properly eliminated through urination, defecation, perspiration or respiration.

The pH Miracle Living Lifestyle and Dietary Plan, I sometimes refer to as the C.O.W.S. Plan will help remove the dietary and metabolic acids that cause all irritation and inflammation in the body and begin the process of restoration and healing. The following is an outline of Dr. Young's C.O.W.S. Plan for achieving ideal sustainable health and energy.

C = Chlorophyll

The most important thing one can do is to increase the amount of whole organic green foods and drinks.
This would include cucumbers, avocados, broccoli, celery, green papaya, green peppers, limes, kale, collard greens, leafy greens, just to name a few.

I recommend 9 to 12 servings of fruits and veggies everyday. Alkalizing fruits and vegetables are great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. To help meet your daily servings of fruits and veggies I have created a whole food organic green fruit and vegetable powder that can be added to your soups, water, sprinkled on a salad or mixed into your food. I have also created a liquid chlorophyll which can be mixed in water, added to soups or taken orally.

O = Oil and Oxygen

The key to increased oxygen is to exercise for at least 1 hour every day. This would include walking, jogging, rebounding, whole body vibrational exercising, swimming, yoga, just to name a few.

My favorites are jogging, yoga, and whole body vibrational exercising. The benefits of exercise are critical for improving blood and lymphatic circulation for removing acids from the connective tissues and joints that can cause irritation, inflammation and degeneration.

When you are moving your body you are moving dietary and metabolic acids out of the tissue that can then be eliminated through the pores of the skin via perspiration and/or through the mouth via respiration.

I also recommend drinking at least 3 to 4 ounces or 125 ml of cold pressed organic Omega 1,3,5,6, and 9 oils found in linseed oil, flax, borage, hemp, avocado and olive oil.

The pH Miracle Living Center is offering an Omega 5 oil from pomegranate and an Omega 1 from organic avocados. The best source for Omega 3, 6 and 9 oils are from linseed, hemp and flax. We are now offering the best source of cold pressed organic Omega 3, 6 and 9 oil from linseed oil from the green fields of England.

W = Water

Drinking at least 1 liter per day of pure alkaline water per 25 k of weight or 50 lbs. is critical for maintaining the alkaline design of the body. The best way to purify and alkalize your water is with our latest Young Life Ionizer 5000, 6500, 7000 or 8500.

S = Salt and Sunshine

Without salt there is no life. Our blood is salty, our sweat is salty, our urine is salty and our tears our salty and for good reason.

It is salt that maintains the alkaline design of your body. It is salt that keeps your heart beating. It is salt that buffers dietary and metabolic acids. It is salt that allows energy to be transported throughout the body.

It is salt that allows you to move, think and breath. It is salt that acts as the glue that holds the spirit and the physical body together. Salt is life. A no or low salt diet is death! Go to the following link to learn more about the importance of salt in your diet and the kind of salt that is best to eat.
It can also be said that without sunlight there would be no life. I recommend at least 30 minutes of direct sunlight every day to recharge and energize the body with photons that are then converted by the body into electrical energy.

The following are some additional whole food nutrients that I recommend taking to buffer dietary and metabolic acids and restore health and energy to the joints, tendons, bones and muscles.

1) Glucosamine-chondroitin sulfate

A number of large-scale, double-blind clinical studies have demonstrated the ability of these two nutrients to alleviate pain and aid joint reconstruction.

2) Hyaluronic

The joint contains cartilage composed of complex glycosaminoglycans, which aid in joint health. One food nutrient that supplies this vital substance is hyaluronic. This is a component of connective tissue whose function is to cushion, lubricate and buffer the dietary and metabolic acids from the blood.

3) MSM

Also called methyl sulfonyl methane, MSM is a natural form of sulfur found in living organisms.
Its main benefits are a reduction of inflammation and the ability to penetrate many tissues, including joints to buffer acidity.

4) Collagen type II

This is a major component in cartilage, and s upplementation has demonstrated benefits in reducing acidic pain and improving joint function.

5) Tart cherry extract

A number of studies have shown that concentrated extracts of tart cherries improve joint function and reduces dietary and metabolic pain.

6) The Spice Curcumin

This is one of the most powerful natural anti-inflammatory substances known. Its effects are comparable to steroids, without the acidic harmful effects of steroids.

7) Quercetin

This is also a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. When combined with curcumin, you get a powerful anti-inflammatory or anti-acidic effect because they each act on different inflammatory biochemical pathways.

8) Linseed oil

Lineed oil contains a high concentration of gamma-linolenic acid, which has significant anti- inflammatory or anti-acidic properties. It also moistens mucous membranes and the skin.

9) Natural vitamin E

Vitamin E, in natural form, has significant anti-inflammatory or anti-acidic effects.

10) Magnesium oxide and sodium bicarbonate

Magnesium oxide and sodium bicarbonate are not only powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory, but they also strengthen the tissues and the ligaments surrounding the joint. Magnesium oxide and sodium bicarbonate have been shown to reduce inflammation, while a deficiency increases it. They not only slash hydorgen ions or metabolic acids but they block the release of inflammatory acidic cytokines as well.
A survey found that a dearth of magnesium is one of the most common mineral deficiencies seen, with 75% of the population lacking it. Chronic illness and many medications worsen magnesium and sodium bicarbonate loss.

I have created three very important mineral salts of magnesium oxide called pHlush, sodium bicarbonate called pHour salts and a broad spectrum of mineral salts called pHlavor salts. Go to the following links to learn more about the importance of mineral salts.

11) Stinging nettle extract

This plant extract has been shown to have powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Recent studies have found it to be very protective of the brain as well. It is often included in natural supplements used to treat chronic prostate problems for the same acidic reasons.

12 ) Glutathione from Avocado

The most powerful of all antioxidants of dietary and metabolic acids that leads to inflammatory and/or degenerative conditions.
