Call for End to UNAIDS in British Medical Journal

"Why a UN agency for HIV and not for acidic symptoms of pneumonia or diabetes, which both conditions of dis-ease or acidity kill more people?
UNAIDS mandate is wrong and harmful," states Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist from the pH Miracle Living Center.

Writing in the May 2008 British Medical Journal, health management expert Roger England asserts that the joint United Nations program on HIV and AIDS should be "closed down rapidly." England is chairman of Health Systems Workshop, an independent advisory group on health management in poor countries.
According to England, UNAIDS should be disbanded as its mandate is wrong and harmful.

Launched in 1996, UNAIDS is based in Switzerland and works in more than 80 countries worldwide against the alleged spread of HIV and AIDS.
Writing in the May 2008 issue of the British Medical Journal (BMJ), England says the UNAIDS agency was set up on the argument that AIDS and its impact are exceptional and need more attention, effort and funding than all other health threats faced by the world today.

England says AIDS is a major problem in southern Africa, but it is not a global catastrophe. He also asserts that language from a top UNAIDS official that describes AIDS as one of the make- or-break forces of this century potential threat to the survival and well-being of people worldwide, is sensationalist.

Worldwide, he states, the number of deaths from HIV each year is about the same as that among children aged under five years in India.

England argues that far too much is spent on HIV relative to other needs and that this is damaging health systems. HIV causes 3.7% of global mortality but receives 25% international healthcare aid and a big chunk of domestic expenditure.

HIV exceptionalism is dead, he says, and the writing is on the wall for UNAIDS.

Why a UN agency for AIDS and not for pneumonia or diabetes, which both kill more people?

UNAIDS should be closed down rapidly, not because it has performed badly given its mandate, but because its mandate is wrong and harmful. Its technical functions should be refitted into [the World Health Organization], to be balanced with those for other diseases.

According to Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist from the pH Miracle Living Center, "AIDS is a consequence of lifestyle and dietary choice and is not caused by HIV or any other virus. Metabolic and dietary acids are the sole cause of all sickness and dis-ease including AIDS. The best treatment for AIDS is simply and alkaline lifestyle and diet.
It works!"

Are You Getting Enough Alkaline Foods in Your Diet?

'Your health depends on an alkaline environment, created by eating foods such as tomatoes, avocados and green vegetables...striking the optimum 80/20 balance and regulating your body's acid/alkaline chemistry through simple changes in diet can result in weight loss, increased stamina and strength, a stronger immune system and a greater sense of wellbeing.' Dr. Robert and Shelley Young

How Do We Become So Out of Balance?

After years of societal changes, millions of dollars of marketing spend and technological advances we, as a race, are now facing more dietary based health challenges than ever before.
It is no coincidence that the rapidly growing numbers of cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes correlate almost exactly with the rise in consumption of acid forming foods such as sugars, saturated fats, and white breads. At the same time our consumption of fresh vegetables and essential fatty acids has decreased dramatically, making way for convenience and a generation hooked on sugary treats.

Becoming Alkaline

This is not as difficult or as technical as it sounds. When we talk about eating alkaline foods or starting an alkaline diet we are referring to consuming those foods and drink which have an alkaline effect on the body. This effect is based upon the ash residue that remains after our foods are consumed. Some foods leave an acid ash, whereas others leave an alkaline ash. Conveniently for us, our bodies have been designed to categorize which foods leave which kind of ash into neat and easy to remember groups.

Of course, everybody is different - but most of us should aim to eat 75-80% alkaline foods and a maximum of 20-25% acid forming foods.

Women Alkalize and Exercise for No More HRT

Low impact alkalizing aerobic exercising significantly decreased the acidic chemical imbalances that can lead to heart dis-ease and stroke in postmenopausal women according to a study in the spring issue of the Journal of Women and Aging.

The acidic hormone estrogen was previously thought by scientists to reduce the acidic chemical imbalances that can lead to cardiovascular dis-eases such as coronary heart disease and stroke in postmenopausal women. However, recent studies have now indicated detrimental effects of long-term use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or acid estrogen replacement therapy, including an increased risk for stroke, heart attack and breast cancer. Faced with these potential consequences, more women are turning to low impact alkalizing exercise as a natural way to combat postmenopausal effects tied to acidic diets and lifestyles.

The study found that HRT users and non-HRT users benefited equally from the exercise.

"Given the controversy with HRT, postmenopausal women can now use aerobic exercise training to lower chemical stress levels, thus reducing another risk factor for chronic disease," said Michael D. Brown, Ph.D., a co-author and associate professor of kinesiology at Temple University's College of Health Professions.

The acidic chemical imbalances or stresses -- called oxidative or acid stress -- occurs when oxidants or acids, harmful acidic chemicals that damage tissue and cells, outnumber antioxidants or alkaline buffers (sodium, magnesium, potassium and calcium bicarbonate all contained in pHour salts) in the body.

Antioxidants or alkaline buffers protect cells and tissues against oxidants or acids. Postmenopausal women have higher levels of oxidative or acid stress.

A single bout of intense high impact exercise acutely raises oxidative or acid stress by increasing the production of oxidants or metabolic acids, such as lactic acid. Conversely, regular exercise of moderate low impact intensity appears to reduce oxidative or acid stress through an adaptive process that increases antioxidant or alkaline buffer activity.

The study followed 48 sedentary postmenopausal women (21 on HRT and 27 not on HRT) through an exercise program consisting of three supervised sessions of low impact aerobic exercise per week for 24 weeks.
Participants were between 50 and 75 years of age and were postmenopausal for at least two years.

"No one is too old to begin an exercise program, but it is imperative to consult your physician before taking part in any exercise program. It is important to start off slow and build your program to your comfort level. Exercising is not difficult. You just have to want to do it,"
Brown added.

According to Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist at the pH Miracle Living Center, states, "if you want to be healthy and fit you must 'alkalize and exercise' everyday."

Dr. Young suggest daily low impact exercising for at least ten minutes on the VibrapHirm or 15 minutes on the rebounder or 1 hour on the Life Fitness elliptical machine. You could also ride a bike, swim or jog for 1 hour 5 to 6 days a week.

"I lover to jog for 7 to 8 miles a day, vibrate on the whole body vibrational machine everyday and then lift weights using the static attraction method 2 to 3 days a week," states Dr. Young.

Dr. Young further states, "I feel like a teenager and I have the blood, health and fitness to prove it. The pH Miracle Living Plan really works for me and is working for thousands around the world."
